Community Service

When we are introduced to Tyler, we see him working on the roof a high school building, with three other guys, Toothless, Joe, and Dopey. He seems to be doing some sort of community service. Over and over again, Tyler mentions "The Foul Deed" for which he is being punished, but it's not very clear as to what he is talking about. After they finish their work, Tyler parents come to pick up him up. As soon as he gets in the car, we begin to realize the way his father treats him. His dad is always very harsh on him and ever since his "Foul Deed" he'd gotten even worse. His mom on the other hand, is the soft one, she is always scolding his father to take it easy on Tyler.

The only person that is able to understand Tyler is his best friend, Calvin, aka Yoda, (he was a star wars geek). Yoda had forever had a crush on Hannah, Tyler's sister, but never had the courage to admit it to her. Hannah ends up asking him out. Also, with school starting, Hannah was just going to be a freshman. However she was way too excited for it. She wore clothes that Tyler thought was too inappropriate for his little sister, but she was totally comfortable with.
